The Twelve Apostles are Victoria's Number 1 tourist destination. They are giant rock stacks that have been created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs. The rate of erosion at the base of the limestone pillars is approximately 2cm per year. For more information on the Twelve Apostles see Wikipedia or the Visit Victoria site.
Near the 12 Apostles is Loch Ard Gorge. Two survivors, Tom Pearce and Eva Carmichael, managed to scramble ashore here from the shipwrecked "Loch Ard". Tom managed to climb out of the Gorge and get help from nearby Glenample Homestead.
Helicopter flights over the Twelve Apostles are available near Port Campbell. We can also recommend plane flights from Apollo Bay with Apollo Bay Aviation
