Great Ocean Walk

Great Ocean Walk Signposts

The Great Ocean Walk has quickly become one the world's most iconic walks.

Specifically designed for walkers to "step on and step off" the trail, the Great Ocean Walk can be completed while enjoying the comforts of a warm bed, great food, and great wine.

The Great Ocean Walk was originally intended to run from Apollo Bay to Glenample Homestead, however since the closure of Glenample Homestead the track finishes near the 12 Apostles. The approximate length of the Great Ocean Walk is about 104 kms. Walkers can tackle the whole length walking from east to west or may choose just a few highlights and save some for another trip!

Great Ocean Walk Holidays run fully flexible packages. We live in the area so we can change your walk at a moment's notice due to weather or other factors and can incorporate a rest day or a day of sight-seeing.

Winding along the coast, through rain forests and across rivers the track provides opportunities to see an abundance of birds and wildlife. Swamp wallabies, kangaroos, koalas, king parrots, echidnas, blue tongued lizards, and snakes can be seen along the track.

Prices start from $1,000 per couple for a 2 night, 3 day highlights Great Ocean Walk package.

Tourism Victoria - the Art of Walking

In April 2010, Tourism Victoria released the documentary "The Art of Walking" featuring three extraordinary people on the Great Ocean Walk.

Will Cox (Ranger in Charge at Port Campbell), accompanied Katarina Witt (Olympic ice-skater), Michael Milton (Australia's fastest downhill skier and Para-Olympian), and John Francis (Planet Walker) along the Great Ocean Walk. In the video here he describes the beauty and the rugged diversity of the Great Ocean Walk.
