The Beechy Rail Trail follows much of the original path of the narrow gauge railway which ran from 1902 to 1962. From Beech Forest most of the trail is downhill to Gellibrand. The path then continues onto Colac. Gellibrand is a perfect place to stop for a drink at the Gellibrand General Store or at the pub.
The train used to run to Crowes near Lavers Hill. The Crowes buffer stop is just near Melba Gully rainforest walk,(signposted just west of Lavers Hill)
